The Lineup Club: Bring Your Own (BYO) Alcohol Policy

1. Policy Statement & Licensing Status

The Lineup Club is a private members’ club. We operate as a BYO (Bring Your Own) establishment and do not hold a liquor licence. No alcohol is sold or provided by the club. Members and their guests may bring their own alcoholic beverages for personal consumption on the premises strictly under the terms and conditions outlined in this policy. By bringing or consuming alcohol on the premises, you agree to be bound by this policy and all other House Rules of the club.

2. Eligibility & The Corkage Fee

This privilege is extended only to registered members and their signed-in guests.
A corkage fee of R 50 per person will be charged to any individual who consumes their own alcohol on the premises, regardless of the amount brought or consumed.
This fee is a service charge for the provision of glassware, ice, storage, and the general facility upkeep that accompanies alcohol consumption.
The corkage fee will be applied to the host member’s account or must be settled in full before departure.

3. Conditions & Limitations

Quantity: A reasonable quantity for personal consumption only is permitted. Management reserves the right to refuse entry to excessive amounts of alcohol, which may be deemed as intended for a party or unauthorized distribution.
Type: Only beer, cider, wine, and sparkling wine are permitted. No spirits, liqueurs, or fortified wines are allowed on the premises at any time. This is to promote responsible consumption and maintain our club’s atmosphere.
Service: All alcohol must be poured into club-provided glassware. Drinking directly from bottles or cans is not permitted.
Storage: The club may, at its discretion and as a service, temporarily store opened bottles of wine. We accept no responsibility for any loss or damage to personal alcohol.

4. Absolute Rules of Responsible Consumption

Zero Tolerance for Minors: No person under the age of 18 may consume or be supplied with alcohol on the premises. Valid ID may be requested.
No Intoxication: The club adheres to a strict Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) principle. Any member or guest showing signs of intoxication will be refused further consumption of their alcohol. Management’s assessment in this regard is final.
No External Service: Alcohol brought onto the premises may only be consumed by the member and their registered guests. The sharing, selling, or supplying of alcohol to other members or patrons is strictly prohibited.
House Rules Supersede: All provisions of the general House Rules (especially regarding Noise, Conduct, and Quiet Hours) remain in full effect. The BYO privilege does not exempt anyone from these core obligations.

5. Safety, Liability & Indemnity

Designated Driver: We strongly encourage groups to nominate a designated driver. Management reserves the right to call a taxi for any individual deemed unfit to drive.
Personal Liability: Members are personally and fully liable for the conduct, safety, and transportation of themselves and their guests. The Lineup Club, its owners, and staff accept no liability whatsoever for any loss, damage, injury, or legal consequence arising from the consumption of alcohol on the premises.
Indemnity: By bringing alcohol onto the premises, the member indemnifies The Lineup Club, its owners, and staff against any claims, damages, or penalties (including any from regulatory authorities) that may arise from their or their guests’ consumption of alcohol.

6. Violation & Enforcement

Violation of any part of this policy or the associated House Rules will result in immediate intervention by staff.

Consequences may include:

1. Confiscation of alcohol (with no compensation).

2. Immediate request to leave the premises.

3. A formal warning or immediate suspension of the host member’s BYO privileges.

4. In severe or repeated cases, termination of membership without refund.

*Management retains the absolute right to refuse entry of alcohol or revoke the BYO privilege from any individual or group at any time.

7. Acknowledgement

This policy will be displayed prominently and included in the membership welcome pack.
By signing the membership agreement and/or bringing alcohol onto the premises, the member acknowledges they have read, understood, and agreed to this BYO Policy in its entirety.

This policy is designed to allow enjoyment while prioritising the safety of all, the harmony of our neighbourhood, and the legal integrity of The Lineup Club.

Management reserves the right to amend this policy at any time.
